What producer responsibility applies to packaging in Finland?
A producer placing packaged products on the Finnish market is responsible for the receipt, transport, recycling and other treatment of the packaging waste and for the costs arising. The producer must apply to the producer register kept by the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Pirkanmaa or join a producer organisation, and must report annually the quantities placed on the market and the recycling rates. The recycling targets and arrangements for packaging are set out in a government decree.
