The source engine, the API and the answer proofs are open without an account. What costs is the agreement around them: service level, data processing agreement, a named contact and the right to embed the registry in your own product.

API pricing by content class
The agent API is priced by what is fetched, not by who fetches it. Four classes, the same registry and the same answer in all of them. The per-fetch price applies to volume beyond the monthly plan. The yearly price is an OEM licence for resellers embedding the engine, contracted separately.

How billing is introduced
- Now: the price list is published and carried in response headers. Nothing is closed.
- Now: soft limits per class. High rates get 429 with Retry-After, never a payment response.
- From 2026-10-28: Tier 2–4 require a key for machine calls. Tier 1 and search/AI engines stay open.
Region and agent licences are not sold today. What is contracted now is fetch and the monthly plan.
Always included
The same registry, the same answer and the same version number at every tier. A paying customer does not get a different answer from the open surface, that would be incompatible with a reproducible answer. The difference lies in the agreement, the limits and the support.
