Hindras säljaren att fullgöra köpet i rätt tid, skall han lämna köparen meddelande om hindret och dess inverkan på möjligheterna till fullgörelse. Om köparen inte får ett sådant meddelande inom skälig tid efter det att säljaren har fått eller borde ha fått kännedom om hindret, har köparen rätt till ersättning för den skada som kunde ha undvikits om han hade fått meddelandet i tid.
