(1) Loven gjelder kjøp for så vidt ikke annet er fastsatt i lov. For forbrukerkjøp gjelder forbrukerkjøpsloven. For kjøp av fast eiendom gjelder avhendingslova.
(2) Loven gjelder også bytte av ting så langt den passer.Endret ved lover 3 juli 1992 nr. 93, 21 juni 2002 nr. 34 (ikr. 1 juli 2002).
