When does an activity require an environmental permit in Denmark?
An activity requires an environmental permit when it appears on the list of specially polluting activities in the permit order, and the activity may not be started, extended or materially changed before the permit is in place. The application goes to the municipality or the Environmental Protection Agency depending on the listing, and the permit sets conditions on emissions, noise, waste, self-monitoring and reporting. Activities outside the list may instead be subject to notification duties or to the rules for non-permitted activities.
