How long is the notice period?

One month as a minimum. Where the employer gives notice the period grows with length of service, up to six months at ten years. Where the employee resigns it is one month.

  • Service governs: two years gives two months, four years three, six years four, eight years five and ten years six months.
  • A collective agreement may deviate, and the agreed period is read before the statute.
