What does self-monitoring of an environmentally hazardous activity require?
The operator must plan and monitor operations continuously to counteract harm to human health and the environment. For permit-required and notification-required activities, the allocation of responsibility must be in writing, risks must be examined and assessed regularly and the results documented. Equipment for operation and control must be maintained under a register, and operational disturbances that may harm health or the environment must be reported to the supervisory authority without delay.
