Den försäljningsskatt som enligt lagen (1978:69) om försäljningsskatt på motorfordon tas ut när ett begagnat fordon förs in i landet från ett annat EG-land har reducerats med beaktande av förbudet mot diskriminerande skatter och avgifter enligt artikel 90 i EG-fördraget. Också den del av skatten som tas ut endast av fordon i miljöklass 3 har reducerats. Någon reduktion har däremot inte skett av den skrotningsavgift som samtidigt skall betalas enligt bilskrotningslagen (1975:343).
