Kravet är detsamma oavsett undervisningsspråk

För att förlängt uppehållstillstånd för studier ska medges krävs det att studenten i nära anslutning till början av studietiden uppvisar tryggad försörjning samt medel för återresa. Godtagbara framsteg i studier motsvarar 15 högskolepoäng under första året, 22,5 högskolepoäng under andra året och 30 högskolepoäng under tredje och följande år. Kravet är detsamma oavsett undervisningsspråk. Det är de högskolepoäng som uppnåtts under tiden för det senaste uppehållstillståndet som ska ligga till grund för bedömningen av om studenten gjort godtagbara framsteg i sina studier. Exempelvis visad sjukdom eller liknande skäl såsom nära anhörigs sjukdom eller dödsfall kan leda till att lägre studieresultat godtas.
