Arbetstagaren ska lämna arbetsgivaren en skriftlig försäkran om att han eller hon har varit sjuk och i vilken omfattning som arbetsförmågan har varit nedsatt på grund av sjukdomen samt om han eller hon då omfattades av bestämmelserna i 37 kap. 3 § socialförsäkringsbalken. Försäkran behöver inte innehålla närmare uppgift om sjukdomen. Arbetsgivaren är inte skyldig att betala ut sjuklönen innan arbetstagaren har lämnat försäkran. Lag (2011:1073).
