I fråga om verksamhet som kan orsaka skada eller olägenhet för människors hälsa, miljön eller andra intressen som skyddas enligt miljöbalken tillämpas utöver balken även bestämmelser i annan lag.
Såvitt gäller skydd mot ohälsa och olycksfall i arbete samt i sådana hänseenden i övrigt som huvudsakligen avser arbetsmiljön tillämpas bestämmelserna i arbetsmiljölagen (1977:1160).
