Bestämmelserna i denna balk om hushållning med mark- och vatten-områden, tillstånd, anmälan och tillåtlighet ska i fråga om geologisk lagring av koldioxid tillämpas även på Sveriges kontinentalsockel utanför territorialgränsen.
Ytterligare bestämmelser om balkens tillämpning utanför territorialgränsen finns i 7 kap. 32 §, 10 kap. 18 a § och 15 kap. 40 § samt i lagen (1966:314) om kontinentalsockeln och i lagen (1992:1140) om Sveriges ekonomiska zon. Lag (2026:507).
