Om en vara har importerats till Sverige för att sändas eller transporteras till ett annat EU-land, har importören rätt till återbetalning av den mervärdesskatt som betalats vid importen. Detta gäller dock bara om importören kan styrka att varan har beskattats som unionsinternt förvärv i det EU-landet i enlighet med tillämpningen av artikel 20 andra stycket i mervärdesskattedirektivet.
