Denna lag gäller köp av lös egendom.
Lagen gäller i tillämpliga delar även byte av lös egendom.
Lagen gäller inte överlåtelse av tomträtt.
Vid köp av byggnad som uppförts för stadigvarande bruk gäller i stället för bestämmelserna i 3, 13, 17--21 samt 30--40 §§ vad som föreskrivs i 4 kap. 11, 12 och 18--19d §§ jordabalken. Om en tomträttsupplåtelse enligt 13 kap. 5 § jordabalken har innefattat överlåtelse av en byggnad, gäller de nämnda bestämmelserna i jordabalken dock inte om något annat följer av 13 kap. 8 § jordabalken.
