En konsument som före köpet av ett sådant djur som anges i 18 § andra stycket har undersökt djuret eller utan godtagbar anledning inte har följt näringsidkarens uppmaning att göra det, får inte som fel åberopa vad han eller hon borde ha märkt vid undersökningen. Detta gäller dock inte om näringsidkaren har handlat grovt vårdslöst eller i strid mot tro och heder.
