För registrering av ett aktiebolags företagsnamn gäller, utöver vad som framgår av 1-3 §§, vad som föreskrivs i lagen (2018:1653) om företagsnamn. I den lagen finns också bestämmelser om förbud mot användning av ett företagsnamn och om hävning av en registrering av ett företagsnamn. Lag (2018:1682).
