Hindres kjøperen i å oppfylle kjøpet til rett tid, skal han gi selgeren melding om hindringen og dens virkning på muligheten for å oppfylle. Får selgeren ikke slik melding innen rimelig tid etter at kjøperen fikk eller burde ha fått kjennskap til hindringen, kan selgeren kreve erstattet tap som kunne vært unngått om han hadde fått meldingen i tide.
