What is the tipping off offence in the UK?

A person in the regulated sector commits an offence by disclosing that a suspicious activity report has been made, or that an investigation is contemplated or under way, where the disclosure is likely to prejudice it. The offence carries up to two years' imprisonment. Disclosure within the same group or to a supervisor, and disclosure for the purpose of preventing an offence, are permitted in defined circumstances.
