Is corporate hospitality a bribe under the Bribery Act 2010?
Hospitality is not an offence in itself. It becomes one where it is intended to induce improper performance of a function or to reward it, so the question is proportionality, transparency and whether the recipient's judgement is being bought. Facilitation payments have no exemption in the United Kingdom and are bribes however small.
