What penalties can Ofcom impose under the Online Safety Act?
Ofcom can fine a provider up to £18 million or 10 per cent of qualifying worldwide revenue, whichever is greater, and can require the provider to remedy the failure. In the most serious cases it can apply to the court for business disruption measures, cutting off payment, advertising or access services. Senior managers can be criminally liable for failing to comply with certain information notices.
