Can a UK business send marketing email without consent?

Marketing to individuals requires prior consent, unless the contact details were obtained during a sale or negotiation for a sale of a similar product and every message offers a simple way to opt out, which is the soft opt-in. Marketing to corporate subscribers does not need consent, but the sender must identify itself, give a valid address and honour objections. Breaches can bring a monetary penalty of up to £500,000 under the Regulations.
